I have uses several lecture capture pieces of software. The ones I have used have been freebees, starting with Jinga and moving onto

katura looks like it alows you to dissimante a lecture but not create onw.

Camtasia I have heard is the best bur we have a limited number of licenses in my school and I do not have one. I  have use the free version and like it a lot. it is called snagIt. It allows me to create screen captures of writing programs and showing how to use statCruch. I can edit and re-record. These are two things I have done with this software for my F2F classes and online classes.

Lecture Vision by Cisco, allos you to create a report off the screen and is is easy to dissiminate inforamtion to students and others.

I find that being able to record lectures helps tremondously in the classroom. For students who are absent it can be like they were there. For students that need to see the lecture again, they can run it as many times as they need. It is just another way to present information and differentiate for your students.
