Synchronous options for teaching online can include

• Blackboard Im -  messaging in real time
• Blackboard Collaborate - more a a classroom atmosphere, can hear collagues, there is a messaging area and a smartboad-type window for teaching or presenting.
• GoTOMeeting - can see other participant, send file and use on a variety of devices
• Google Hangout - cna see a group of people, send file, free
• Google voice  - texting via goodle. Records the tesxt and sends to your email for a permanent record. Records replies in you email with a timestamp. Can email up to 5 peolpe at a time. Contact list can be created, free
• Adobe connect - much like GoTOmeeting but not free
• Facetime- can see the person you are talking to, limited to one person at at a time, free with phone package
• Skype - can see the person you are talking to. Free
• Cisco WebEx - limited free (up to 3 people). Much like GoToMeeting
• BigBlueButton - much like BBCollaborate but you can see each other. Free
