LMS (Learning Management System) This system gives the admin the ability to;

• Create accounts
• set the scope of those account
• create different types of web tools (wiki, blog, discussions, urls, test,)
• Create learning units
• email users in the community 
• create a turn in system (dropbox, turnitin)
• Differntiate learning
• run reports
• Create course templates

LCMS (Learning Content Management System) - this is more of a resource for creating courses:

• create content and manage it in different ways such as by standard, topic, course, teacher, semester
• LMS and CMS course can be created from the LCMS
• Usually managed by an outside group and the learning institution takes advantage of that.

CMS (Course Management System as defined in iNACOL’s Online Learning Definitions Project).

• this is very silimar to the LMS
