Navigate 3.1.4 LMS Reporting Quest
Discuss the following: What are the options for grade reporting? Are there various levels? Which levels remain most valuable for the online instructor in regard to student performance?
I have used Moodle quite extensively so that is the LMS I think of.
Creating reports in a LMS can be many and varied. The gradebook is the most common report with a built in average.
When tests are taken the reports can show the average of the test, a graph of the results, each question can have an average, synopsis of the incorrect answers. You can also do a DMR and see what material was not mastered by looking at the standards associated with each question. You can look at the delivery method and see which method seemed to get the best results.
There are various levels as you can group the students in different ways and give a similar assignment with a different delivery. By doing this each group only sees their assignment but not others.
There is a system of IF statements with level of completion so a student cannot move on until a certain level of masery is obtained.
These are all very useful tools for the teacher so he/she can change their teaching for the next unit or the same unit for the next year.
